During the last year, I’ve been asked by a number of people why the pool dues are so high. So I’m going to break it down as best as I can. Since the reopening of the pool, after the clubhouse fire, the cost of operating the pool has gone up along with everything else in today’s economy. Without our club house to hold community functions and rent out for private events, its even harder to make the budget to operate the pool and maintain the grounds. Ground maintenance includes the mowing of the grass, which is a benefit to everyone in the community. It takes one full membership to cover the cost of each moving and the mowing is done every two weeks in the summer months. We now need 2 lifeguards on duty and a pool manager everyday just to open the pool. Property taxes have doubled, as you all know from your own taxes. The board is currently trying to get the tax reduction since we are a non-profit group. All the board members are volunteers and don’t receive any compensation for their time working to make our community a better place to live. We have not brought in enough money since the club house fire and we are operating in the red; to supplement our shortage, we have to use the money from our money market account which should be used to maintain the buildings. That is why the office has not been maintained the way it should. We would like to remodel it and use it for club functions but can’t afford to at this time. The best way to show what the money is used for is just to list them below. I’ve also included the Civic Road Dues which is separate from the club. |
